The Parks — Johannesburg

There is a version of Johannesburg that happens beneath the trees. Behind garden walls, around corner tables and through open windows on warm evenings. Old houses with new stories. Morning coffee on the pavement. Dogs in the park. Jacarandas overhead. Long lunches that quietly become drinks. The same faces appearing at the same tables until, somewhere along the way, strangers become neighbours.

Here, the city feels a little smaller. Parkhurst spills into Parkview. Parkwood leans into Rosebank. Craighall hides behind old trees and good gardens. Homes change. Architecture changes. People come and go. But something about the place remains.

Close to everything, removed from just enough. A few kilometres of Johannesburg where city and neighbourhood somehow coexist. Where you can disappear without really going anywhere.

The Old East — Pretoria

There is a version of Pretoria that lives beneath the jacarandas. Behind old walls, around familiar tables and along streets shaded by trees that have been there longer than most of us. Old architecture, enormous gardens, embassies hidden behind greenery and homes that have collected stories over generations.

And somewhere along the way, The Village in Hazelwood changed the rhythm of it all. What was once a quiet pocket became the beating heart of the Old East. Coffee in the morning. Lunch that runs late. Restaurants spilling onto pavements. Drinks after work. The same faces appearing at the same tables until, somewhere along the way, strangers become neighbours. The Village, the Club precinct and the streets around them have given this part of Pretoria a centre of gravity.

Here, the old and the new seem to understand each other. Jacarandas and contemporary architecture. Grand old homes finding new lives. Quiet streets just minutes from the energy of Hazelwood. New restaurants open. Younger generations arrive. The neighbourhood changes, but something about the place remains.

Established without feeling stuck. Familiar without standing still. A few kilometres of Pretoria that have learned how to evolve without losing what made them special in the first place.

This is our Pretoria.
